What are you doing here?

I need some feedback, people.  Apart from the five or six of you I know (and you know who you are…I think), I’d like to know what the rest of you are doing here.  Did you get here by accident?  Do you know me?  Are you too a struggling wannabe?

And what I can impart that will keep you around and talking to me?  Yeah, I realize that sentence sounds a little pathetic…wasn’t intended that way.  I just want more of a dialog with those who pass through, and I’m wondering what I can say or do to get you talking.

So, drop a note here, even just to say hi.  And let me know what I’m doing right and doing wrong (well, nicely, please).

Shawna — I don’t remember what brought me here originally (a link from another blog, I suspect). I kept reading because I like your “no nonsense” style; I feel like you tell it like it is, and you’re a fellow writer on the path.

I am not into the TV side of things as much as you are (I write features, and have made a few, too), but I enjoy reading about it.

Hey – SITW is on my rss subscriber list. Has been for a few months. I come by on every new post. It’s a good blog. Some good info and insight.

I think I came across your blog via a recommendation or mention in another blog, can’t remember.

I’m a writer working towards my first paid gig.

I’m interested in news and advice about working in the US industry as well as tips and tricks, like most people.

I’m an aspiring screenwriter, who loves television. I’ve found it difficult to forge real connections, but I still like to keep tabs on what other people are doing.

Found you through a twitter search waaay back a few months ago when there weren’t so many aspiring screenwriters on there. We talked once, but I’ve been following there and here ever since as I plug away on my own projects.

I found your blog through your TV watch list – I don’t remember where I found the link to that, though I discovered later we have a mutual acquaintance in Bill Cunningham so maybe it was from his blog. I’m a tv fan and write about the industry sometimes, so I like your insight into what’s happening in tv land.

I read most blogs via RSS so don’t tend to participate in dialogue as much as maybe I should – a post would have to really hit on one of my hot buttons. But silence doesn’t mean I’m not appreciative.

This is great feedback! Thanks so much — Yes, I know it is hard for those who use RSS (like I do) to click through to comment. One thing I promise to do more on other blogs this year — ENGAGE.

Wrote the latest post with all y’all in mind. :)

I’ve been reading your blog for a couple of years. I think I found you through Google when I was trying to see if the show “Reunion” was cancelled. I’ve read it regularly ever since and cheer you on through each of your endeavors. Keep up the good work.

    Hey Shawna,

You have really nice readers. But that doesn’t really surprise me.

    Hey,
I stumbled into the room with a few vague mouse clicks. Really have no idea how I got here. Took the red pill, maybe? I appreciate your honest and thorough insights into the industry. I’ll be back.

I’ve been stopping by for at least a year or two now, even during the slow times. I get here through Scott’s sidebar. I come here to learn, relearn, share in the struggle and eventual success of a fellow writer, and to procrastinate(of course).
